DX Cluster

Telnet DX cluster feed shared across all operators. The connection is re-established automatically on failure.

Chat

Upload a custom sound (mp3, wav, ogg, aac, flac, m4a — max 2 MB):

Feature requests

When enabled, all logged-in users see the full list of feature requests (read-only). When disabled, each user sees only their own.

Map tiles

The world map, the contest map and the PDF map export draw their background from CARTO. Since August 2026 CARTO stamps an "API KEY REQUIRED" watermark across every tile requested without a key. A key is free for up to 5 million tiles per month — request one at carto.com/basemaps/apikey.

Leave empty to run without a key — the maps still work, but every tile carries the watermark. Clearing a stored key removes it.

Single sign-on (OIDC)

When enabled, the login screen shows an extra button that redirects the operator to an external identity provider (e.g. Zitadel, Keycloak). Register the redirect URL below with the IdP.

Admin permissions

Admin permissions stay switched off until an admin re-authenticates. They switch themselves off again after this much idle time — any action in the app restarts the countdown. A running activation keeps the window it was granted; a change here applies to the next one.

Database backups

Automatic daily backups run in the background; older files are pruned after this many days. Set to 0 to keep every backup forever.

QRZ.com lookup

When configured, callsign lookups fetch the operator's name, Maidenhead locator and profile picture from QRZ.com. Requires a QRZ.com XML data subscription.

Dummy TRXs

Simulated transceivers that appear in the TRX list and react to frequency changes — useful for testing without physical hardware. They are clearly marked (dummy) in the TRX list.

          Database backups

Automatic daily backups of the Postgres database, deduplicated by content hash and pruned after the configured retention window. Manual backups are welcome any time.

How do I restore a backup?
Restore is intentionally not available from the UI — restoring wipes the current database and reloads it from the snapshot, which is a rare and dangerous operation that belongs in an SSH session with the app stopped.
          # On the server, stop the app, then feed the dump into psql:
          docker compose stop noctalum
          zcat /srv/docker/noctalum/backups/<file>.sql.gz | \
            docker exec -i noctalum-postgres psql -U noctalum -d noctalum
          docker compose start noctalum
